Oil Spill Exercise
- Mariners are advised that an oil spill exercise simulating an offshore oil spill entering the harbour is being conducted by Oil Spill Response Limited commencing 10:00 Tuesday 23rd April and finishing 16:00 Friday 26th April.
- On Tuesday the 23rd a collection boom will be towed in the south harbour area, between Camber and Fishery buoy by the Vessels Regnum IV and Patrol Catamaran. These vessels will be restricted in their ability to manoeuvre, show the prescribed day shapes and maintain a listening watch on Channel 14
- The towed boom will not impede navigation within the main channel and mariners should pass with caution and follow directions given by the Harbour Masters vessels.
- On Thursday 25th up to 200 metres of shore sealing protection boom will be deployed from Cobnor Point out into the main Chichester Channel in approximate position: 50° 48´.70 N, 000° 52´.75W.
- The shore sealing boom will be recovered about 2 hrs after high water and not impinge on the main navigation channel.
