Seasonal Harbour Hard Assistant/ Junior Patrol Officer

 Are you looking for a varied weekend summer job, working by the water?

Chichester Harbour Conservancy have an opportunity for a part time harbour hard assistant to join our seasonal patrol team. You will need to be available for weekends from April to September. This is an entry level role and would be ideally suited to a person looking to gain experience within the harbour team.

You will be the Chichester Harbour Conservancy representative on the hard at Itchenor, with a range of duties including:

  • Assisting patrol officers with preparation of harbour craft
  • Accompanying members of the patrol team on harbour plaque checks and to outreach events around the harbour
  • To understudy patrol officers whilst undertaking patrol and other duties
  • Collecting harbour dues and visitor berthing fees
  • Providing advice and assistance to boat owners and members of the general public
  • Assisting vessels and tenders using the Itchenor jetty
  • Responding to VHF radio calls

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, team player with a basic knowledge of boating and an interest in Chichester Harbour. The successful candidate will be friendly and confident talking to members of the public, ideally with some customer service experience.

Qualifications including RYA Level II Power Boating certificate or higher, RYA VHF Radio Operators Licence and a Current First Aid certificate are desirable but being reliable and enthusiastic to learn are more important.
