Working to protect and recover Chichester Harbour is a role which is dependent on many organisations coming together, to benefit this special landscape. Over the years we have set up a number of local and national partnerships. Our current Management Plan (2019-2024) lists 61 local partnerships and 26 national ones. Some of our closest partnerships include:
Friends of Chichester Harbour
Established as a registered charity in 1987, the Friends of Chichester Harbour support our work helping to protect, preserve and enhance the natural environment along this stretch of the south coast. The Friends primarily focus on funding projects and fielding volunteers to assist our Ranger team in various practical projects. The Friends welcome all ages, and enthusiasts across a broad mix of harbourside pursuits: walkers, sailors, nature enthusiasts, fishermen, wildfowlers, local residents and visitors to the area – all who share a love for Chichester Harbour and an eagerness to preserve and improve its unique character. www.friendsch.org
Chichester Harbour Trust
The Chichester Harbour Trust works to secure the unique environment of Chichester Harbour for future generations to enjoy. The team are actively working on land acquisition projects, and currently hold 13 sites covering over 275 acres. They lobby hard to influence the outcome of the proposed Local Plan for Chichester District, to prevent irreversible harm to the special landscape of the Harbour, and it’s long-reaching views to the South Downs. www.chichesterharbourtrust.org.uk
